Its been a long time since Prof.Lemos Jr first grapple!

The first time Prof.Lemos Jr discovered a grappling art was in 1988,he was 10 years old ,in Rio de Janeiro,Brazil , the art was Judo and his sensei was Antonio Pedroso a Brazilian air force pilot ,Judo teacher and also a former champion.

Sensei Pedroso among many unforgettable lessons ,planted a very important seed on Prof.Lemos Jr heart ” the love for grappling”.

Prof.Lemos Jr grappling quest took a different path which lead him to become one of the most prestigious brazilian Jiu Jitsu teachers and athlete.

Because of his ultimate goal to become a master on ground game he dedicated  himself completely to BJJ  interrupting his Judo training for several years,only returning to pratice Judo in solid basis on 2007 in UK with senseis Andy Marshall and Les Eacock.

Early in 2009 Carlos moved to USA and started training Judo in regular basis at Tohkon judo under sensei Douglas Tono 6th dan and sensei  Majemite  Omagbaluwage who is 5th dan and three time olympian.

On 06/18/2009 Prof.Lemos Jr was finally awarded his brown belt. According to prof.Carlos Lemos Jr,his training under some of the best Judo players of UK and USA is helping him on his standing game on competitions.

Prof.Lemos Jr stated ” I would not be able to come this far without the help of the great instructors and players of Erdington Judo Club and Tohkon Judo,I’m very fortunate to have them.”

Congratulations Prof.Lemos Jr for one more great achievement!

Last 06/13/09 We had prof.Pedro Brandao teaching a seminar in Gracie Barra Countryside,Prof Pedro who is a black belt under Master Carlos Gracie Jr and also Prof.Lemos Jr friend since their childhood  did a outstanding job showing some of the movements that made him a fiercely competitor and gave Prof.Pedro several very important titles.

” The house was full” ,said prof.Carlos Lemos Jr ,”proving that our members prestige our black belt instructors”

” It was a honour to have a war veteran and an army combatives instructor teaching in our school and giving a good example to our guys” Said Prof.Ortega who already invited Prof.Pedro Brandao to come back on this fall for a second edition of his BJJ techniques on this autumn.

The seminar also was a good oportunity for prof. Lemos Jr and Prof.Ortega give some well deserved gradings.

The graded students were: Jon Tutaj(Purple belt 1st degree),Justin Clark( White belt 3rd degree),Ryan Headley (White belt 3rd degree),Victor Corral (white belt 3rd degree),Fernando Corral(White belt 2nd degree) and Matt Pena(Junior White belt 4th degree)

At the end prof. Pedro finish the seminar very impressed with GB Countryside, saying that he found in our school the same spirit that was in Gracie Barra Head quarters, Brazil.

Congratulations to all GB Countryside students and many thanks to Prof.Pedro for his wonderfull job!

We are very happy to announce that Prof.Ryo Ominami,is coming to Gracie Barra Countryside on 5th of July.

Prof.Ryo will be attending to most of the regular classes of GB Countryside helping prof.Lemos Jr and prof.Ortega out with their training with the up and coming summer competitions.

Prof.Ryo who recently won the Japanise National championship on the feather weigh black belt division will be a available for private sessions from 6th to 12th of July.
