Welcome Home!!! Professor Carlos has returned from his successful tour of seminars in Europe. He toured 3 countries and was able to visit the schools that he has mentored through the years. Professor Carlos’ mission was to change the lives of the people that has been entrusted to him and also continue the vision of Master Carlos Gracie Jr. in changing lives through the knowledge of Gracie Barra Family, passion vision, and grit.  He will be teaching classes starting today (12/16/09). Professor Jose Diago Dias will continue teaching at Gracie Barra Countryside this week also. Don’t miss your opportunity to train with 2 blackbelts!!!

We would also like to Thanks Professor Marus for being at GBC in Professor Carlos’ absence.

2009 Holiday Party

You are all cordially invited to the 2009 Gracie Barra Countryside Holiday Party and potluck.  On December 21, 2009, students, their families and friends will gather to celebrate the holidays and award December promotions and belt-promotions.  We will have a slide-show of some of the highlights from competitions, promotions and training.  We will be having a special guest: Jose Diago Dias, who is training Frank Mir for his next UFC fight.

The event is a potluck, so you are asked to bring a dish and drink (non-alcoholic) to share.

For those who wish to participate, gifts will be exchanged as a “secret Santa.”  Sign-up for inclusion in secret Santa is open until Monday, December 14, 2009.  The minimum price of a gift must be $10.00.

December 15, 2009 – December 21, 21009

With the return of Professor Carlos, Gracie Barra Countryside will have a guest instructor, Professor Jose Diago Dias, December 15 through Dec 21. Professor Jose is a former Brazilian National Champion and is currently part of the team that is training Frank Mir for his next UFC fight. Classes will follow the regular scheduled time. Professor Jose will be available for private lessons and will also be joining us for our 2009 Holiday Party on Dec 21.

December 11, 2009 – December 16, 2009

In Professor Carlos’ absence, Professor Marcus “Soneca” Neuenshwander will be   teaching classes at Gracie Barra Countryside, 12/11/2009 to 12/16/2009. Classes will meet at the regular scheduled time. Professor “Soneca” is a Black Belt, 1st degree. Professor Marcus Neuenschwander was born in Belo Horizonte Brazil and started training at the age of 14 with Professor Aldo “caveirinha” Januario. In 2007, after spending some time teaching and spreading the Gracie Barra Jiu-jitsu in Europe, Prof Marcus moved to USA and received by the hand of Master Carlos Gracie and Prof Marcio Feitosa his first Degree on his black belt. After 2 years training and teaching on the Gracie Barra Headquarters in Irvine California, Prof Marcus decided to move forward and start a new school in Long Beach, CA to keep spreading the unique Gracie Barra life style. He still an active athlete and competes in most of the major Brazilian Jiu-jitsu tournaments worldwide. During his competition career, he has accomplished many titles including: American Nationals Championship,American Nationals no-GI  Championship, Brazilian team Nationals, Dutch Open, 2nd American National no-gi Absolute, 3rd European Championship, 3rd World no-gi Championship, and multiple Minas Gerais State Championships.
